    11The Gaussian constraints (both directly on fit parameters and on the arbitrary combinations thereof) are not applied in the simultaneous fit.
    2 NB that they should be applied at the level of the "Master" to avoid the multiple-counting that would occur if they were applied at the slave level - should probably include a comment to this effect in fitSlave() to explain why this is absent there when it is present in fit().
